About Us

In the present time, there is a dearth of technical personnel in rural areas of the Chhattisgarh state, this serves as a major impediment in harnessing the maximum potential of the livestock sector. Foreseeing this, Veterinary Polytechnic Rajnandgaon was established under Dau Shri Vasudev Chandrakar Kamdhenu Vishwavidyalaya (DSVCKV) which offers technical career-oriented programmes in the arena of Veterinary education. Diploma students are given the basic training to perform certain procedures by themselves or under guidance at field level such as physical restraint of animals, recording pulse, temperature, respiration, rumen motility, giving first aid to injured animals like cleaning and dressing wounds, applying splints and bandages, performing artificial insemination, castration, ear tagging, vaccination, assisting in dystocia, pregnancy diagnosis and other interventions like venipuncture. Students also learn basic management practices related to livestock such as management of dairy cattle, buffalo, sheep, goat, calf, heifer, pregnant and lactating animals, breeding bulls, poultry. Under DAH course, students also learn the handling and skill development in use of clinical instruments like handling of microscope, centrifuge, autoclave etc. and preparing and analysing biological samples (e.g. haematological, urinalysis, faecal samples and preparation of various samples for laboratory diagnosis)

Our History

Veterinary Polytechnic Rajnandgaon was established at the village Bori, District-Rajnandgaon under the Dau Shri Vasudev Chandrakar Kamdhenu Vishwavidyalaya (DSVCKV) formerly Chhattisgarh Kamdhenu Vishwavidyalaya during the session 2016-17. Rajnandgaon district comes under Chhattisgarh plain agro climate Zone. Veterinary Polytechnic Rajnandgaon offers two-year (04 semesters) diploma programme in “Diploma in Animal Husbandry” (DAH). Students are enrolled after 12^th and are given hands-on-training in Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry. A total of 233 students from have been passed out till the session 2021-22 from Veterinary Polytechnic Rajnandgaon.

Mission of Veterinary Polytechnic Rajnandgaon is to set forth quality education in Veterinary field, undertake region specific need based and basic research, organize training programmes, provide efficient extension and advisory services to farmers.

Our Vision

• Veterinary Polytechnic Rajnandgaon aims to impart a career based theoretical as well as practical training in the field of Veterinary and Animal Science, so that the rural youth could be trained as para- vets.
• Foremost objective is to continuously generate the entrepreneurship opportunities for trained diploma holders through capacity building. Our vision is to equip the youth with basic expertise so that they can be self-employed and start their venture independently.
• To create technical manpower in field of Veterinary/Dairying in the short time frame as there is a shortage of Veterinarians. It will create more workforces at the lower level and thus, opening the possibilities of further progress in the livestock sector
