Dau Shri Vasudev Chandrakar Kamdhenu Vishwavidyalaya Library was founded on 08-August-1986 at College of Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry, Durg since then it continues to make progress in its programme to face the challenges of information explosion by adopting information technology. The Vishwavidyalaya Library is providing quality services to the students, teachers, research scholars, supporting teaching research and extension programme of the vishwavidyalaya.

 

General Services:           

Reading Services, Loan privileges, Photocopy and printing Services, Internet Services, References Services, Organization of Book Exhibition, Thesis Repository, Periodicals are available for easy and quick access for research fellow, students and faculties.

 

Mandate

  1. Providing library and infor- mation services to all students, teachers,scientists and other staff members of DSVCKV is the mandatory objective of the Vishwavidyalaya Library.
  2. Maintain an effective Library and Information Service Network in the Vishwavidyalaya  with proper co-operation and collaboration with external agencies and libraries worldwide for ensuring information services and document delivery.
  3. Build up suitable information resources and appropriate infrastructure and develop catalogues, databases, libraries, institutional repositories etc. for information handling.
  4. Evolve standards and guidelines for various library and information systems and networks.
  5. Provide information retrieval services either online or offline in all areas of agricultural sciences and to give overall information support in all fields of knowledge.
  6. Conduct Library Education and User Training Programs for students, teachers, scientists and other users on subjects like Information Sources, Literature Search, Indexing and Abstracting Techniques, ICT, Computerized Information Retrieval, Web Tools etc.
  7. Organize in-service training for library and information professionals and provide advisory and consultancy services. Extend the library services to government agencies, administrators, policy makers, entrepreneurs, farmers etc.

The University Library is providing good quality services in terms of books, journal, internet facility, etc to the students and faculty members to promote and strengthen the teaching, research and extension programmes of the university. The existing library facilities are being gradually strengthened from ICAR/RKVY and other funding agency. New independent library building is verse of completion.

E- Services:

CD-ROM Data bases: Veterinary and Animal Husbandry research Information are available in CD-ROM (VET CD) Databases, Library has so many E-Books related to veterinary, fisheries and dairy technology.Around 3000 E-Journals are available through CeRA, CD-ROM Vet-CD Databases, Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC), Mobile App for accessing all e-Resources services are also available. Library is member of Krishikosh.

Automation:

  • Digitization of University Library is made using KOHA library management system which is integrated with RFID equipments for automatic issue/return of reading materials, anti-theft security, inventory management etc., Contactless Smart Card, SmartCard Printer.

Stocking space:

A new Library building is near to completion. Existing library has stocking area of 4000 sq.feet in the Veterinary College, Anjora, premises.

 

e-Resources:

University Library has so many E-Books related to veterinary, fisheries and dairy technology that can be easily viewed as multiuser facility in computer

 

CeRA Connectivity:

Consortium for e-Resources in Agriculture (CeRA) has approved our request for granting access to their Journals. we facilitate our readers by providing access to information specially access to journals online which is crucial for having excellence in research and teaching. Consortium for e-Resources in Agriculture (CpRA) provides access to around 3000 foreign journals, including from reputed publishers like Elsevier, Springer etc.

 

KrishiKosh:

Indian Digital Ensemble of Agricultural Libraries (IDEAL) is a customised platform for Agricultural Libraries of Indian National Agricultural Research & Education System (NARES) which enables them to adopt Integrated Library Management System. Libraries can reduce the cost incurred in procuring books and other library resources by sharing through this digital system e-Granth project supported by National Agriculture Innovation Project (NAIP) of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and Chhattisgarh Kamdhenu Vishwavidyalaya.

 

KOHA Library Management System Integrated with Radio Frequency Identification System (RFID):

Digitization of University Library is done using KOHA library management system which is integrated with RFID equipments for automatic issue/return of reading materials, anti theft security, inventory management etc.

 

e-Learning Portal:

All the e-Course Contents available on this website have been developed by subject matter specialist of the respective disciplines at State Agricultural Universities in India and Deemed Universities of ICAR, New Delhi. The courses material is prepared as per ICAR approved syllabus for the benefit of under-graduate students

Wi-fi facility: University Library is having a high speed optical fiber Internet connection, locally networked and connected through wi-fi.

Computer Systems: These Systems are connected with very high speed optical fibre network
